Daylight Weather

Privacy policy

Last updated: 3 October 2026

This policy describes how Daylight Weather, its iPhone app and widgets, handles information. For privacy questions, contact the developer at gr09oizv@anonaddy.me.

At a glance

Daylight does not require an account and does not include advertising, third-party analytics or cross-app tracking. The developer does not operate a server that receives your location, searches or weather history. The app connects to Apple services to look up places and obtain weather information.

Location and city searches

Location access is optional. When you choose “Use my location”, Daylight requests permission and a one-time location fix to find a nearby place and its forecast. The app requests kilometre-level accuracy; the location returned depends on your device and permission settings. Daylight does not continuously track your movements or request background location updates.

Coordinates for your selected place are sent to Apple WeatherKit to request forecasts and historical or monthly weather data. Apple’s geocoding services receive coordinates to resolve place names and time zones. City or postcode queries entered in search are sent to Apple’s MapKit place-search service.

You can use city search without granting location permission. You can change or revoke permission in iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Daylight. Revoking permission does not automatically erase a previously saved location.

Information stored on your device

Daylight saves your selected place and its coordinates, recent places, language and unit preferences, cached time zones, and a weather snapshot on your device. The app and its widgets share this information through an iOS app-group container so that widgets can display the same forecast and preferences.

Saved preferences and places remain until replaced or the app’s data is removed. Cached forecasts are replaced as the app receives updates. Removing the app with “Delete App”, rather than “Offload App”, removes its local app data. iOS backups may contain app data and may restore it when you restore a backup; backup storage is controlled by your Apple settings.

Apple services and external links

Weather forecasts and climate data are provided through Apple WeatherKit. Place search and geocoding use Apple services. Network requests necessarily disclose information such as your IP address to the receiving service. Apple handles information received by its services under its own terms and privacy policies; Daylight does not control Apple’s retention practices.

Read Apple’s Privacy Policy, Apple Maps & Privacy, and Apple Weather’s data-source information.

If you follow an external link, such as weather attribution or the Beaufort-scale reference, the destination website receives your visit and applies its own privacy practices.

Contacting support

If you email the developer, your email address, message and any attachments are processed to answer your request. Email is handled by the developer’s email providers, including the addy.io forwarding service used by the contact address. Please avoid sending information that is unnecessary for support. Correspondence may be retained to resolve the request and related follow-up; contact the developer to request deletion of support correspondence.
